Peg Solitaire Puzzle Instructions

This is an online version of the classic Peg Solitaire puzzle. This is just called "Solitaire" in the UK as the card game is called "Patience". In India (and other places) it is known as Brainvita.

Click the green GO! button to start the game and you will see the classic "English" style peg solitaire board with 33 squares and 32 counters. The aim of the puzzle is to end up with a counter in the center square (coloured bright red). To do this, you have to select a counter separated by one other counter from an empty square. Then jump over that counter onto the empty square. When you jump over a counter it will be removed from the board. You can only jump horizontally and vertically in this version - not diagonally.

If you manage to complete the puzzle, Trixie will appear. If you get to the point where you cannot make a move then the game will finish and you can restart a new game. To start a new game at any time, click on the red "Clear" button at the top right-hand corner of the game.

Solitaire is a very old puzzle. It appeared in an engraving in 1697, but is likely to be much older.
